    What does YOUTH2XCEL do?

It is our aim to help young people who haven't succeeded academically in school, to still have opportunity to work towards the career path of their choice. We understand that the classroom environment doesn't suit everyone and sometimes young people have other issues to cope with too. We work with our students in all aspects of their development, and aim to see them placed into further training or into a job of their choice. We like to work together with the family/whanau and sometimes other organisations and agencies to help bring about the best results.

Who is eligible to join a course?

Any school leaver 15 to 18 years who has low qualifications. He or she must be willing to comply with our standards of behaviour and be ready and willing to learn and have fun. In exceptional circumstances 14 year olds can join our course

    What does it cost?

Providing you meet the criteria above, it won't cost you anything. In fact in some situations you may be eligible for financial help with transport to get to and from the course. We are Government funded through the Tertiary Education Commission. (Link to Tertiary Education Commission below.)

    What Courses are available?

We have 2 basic courses and both have a variety of activities and unit standards to earn you credits towards further training or the job you choose to do. (Link to The NZ Qualifications Authority below) The 2 courses are open to both sexes as long as there is space available. We keep our tutor/student ratio low, so that there is plenty of time for individual help. (See Our Current Courses section)

    What else does YOUTH2XCEL do?

We have weekly recreation days where we do fun things eg; go to the movies, boating, swimming at the pools or in the river. We sometimes meet with other courses similar to ours in the lower North Island and together we play sports or do other fun activities. We have BBQs together and play pool or volley ball. We have visiting people to talk to us about things that are relevant to young people like us. (See our photos.)
